2021 UNITE Conference

Presentation materials from the 2021 UNITE Virtual Conference held in February 2021.

Using MCP EMAIL, 2.0

Abstract Email has become ubiquitous for business communications, and automatic generation of emails by computer systems is now commonplace, both as application output and for system administration. Its use for administration has become even more important as MCP systems move into remote data centers and the Cloud.

The MCP natively supports a basic email client. Email output is also available through Enterprise Output Manager (EOM/DEPCON) and there are third-party email packages for the MCP as well.

The speaker will briefly review general email technology and the email facilities available to the MCP applications environment. The presentation will focus on using the MCP OBJECT/EMAIL utility for simple messaging and file delivery. The speaker will present examples of email event notification from a real lights-out operating environment, file transfer using email, and the use of the OBJECT/EMAIL library API. This is an update to a presentation orignally made at UNITE 2009.

I Didn't Know You Could Do That! (2021 Edition)

Abstract It's time once again to sweat the small stuff. Like all mature computer environments, Unisys systems have a lot of features and capabilities. Some of these are not obvious, or at least not very well known. Everyone has their favorite set of Tips & Tricks to make better use of the system, but no one knows them all.

Something we are doing different this year is hosting an OS 2200 topic in addition to just MCP topics as we have had in the past.

This presentation has a number of short offerings by multiple speakers, each describing a simple Tip or Trick you can take back to your shop and put to immediate use. There will be a brief write-up available on each one, and ample time for questions. A vote will be held to select Best Trick. Requests for "I Wish I Could Do That" features from the audience will be welcome at the end. Come have some fun and learn something you didn't know before.
